Restoration

Extensive work was undertaken between 2009 and 2016 to restore and preserve the interior and exterior structure of St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its bell tower. A summary of this work follows:

  • 2009
    • Repair dome
    • Upgrade hydro feed
    • Replace furnace room floor
    • Install electric furnace
  • 2010
    • Shingle cedar roof
    • Paint dome & dome window frames/crosses
  • 2011
    • Erect new cemetery sign & directory
  • 2013
    • Install new outhouses in churchyard & cemetery
    • Install 8 main floor windows
    • Build & install 2 choir loft windows
    • Rebuild exterior cedar steps
  • 2014
    • Install new historically-accurate exterior doors & lockset
  • 2015
    • Clean & rewire chandelier and install new crystals
    • Install windows (dome, vestibule, priest’s room, bell tower)
    • Install & paint tongue-and-groove boards on vestibule walls & ceiling
    • Install carpet in and paint priest’s room
    • Install handrails on exterior steps
    • Install new historically-accurate interior doors
    • Refinish & paint stucco
    • Paint bell tower window frames & shutters
    • Level churchyard and cemetery with topsoil & seed
    • Discovery & reinstallation of original sunburst over front entrance
  • 2016
    • Install new door on bell tower
